DC: Reflection 4

Tasks:

Continue Editing

I decided to place a Letterbox effect on our final production to increase the visceral pleasure achieved from our footage.

Step 1

The first step was to go to the Colour Page on Da Vinci Resolve, and change the editing mode to timeline. This meant that the edit I made would be applied to every shot in the timeline, as opposed to the specific selected shot

Step 2

The second step was to edit the blanking on the timeline. In order to achieve a 2.35: 1 cinematic crop, I worked out the maths:

1920 divided by 2.35 = 818
1080 - 818 = 262
262 divided by 2 = 131 (TOP NUMBER)
1080 - 131 = 949  (BOTTOM NUMBER)

After applying a 131 crop to the top of the shot, and a 949 crop to the bottom, I achieved a 2.35: 1 cinematic crop
